Hotel Michael @ the Resorts World Sentosa

To celebrate hubby’s birthday, he and I had a 3D2N staycation at Hotel Michael, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).  The hotel is a tribute to Michael Graves, a great contemporary American architect.

The room itself is like an art gallery with murals on the walls and maple-accented furnishings.  However, the workmanship is very bad because the drawers and bathroom doors don’t open or close smoothly.  I went around opening and closing all the drawers and I had to use a bit of force to do that.  The bathroom doors were so hard to close that most of the time we didn’t bother shut it completely.

The room is comfortable and slightly more spacious than the Festive Hotel room but it doesn’t have a sofa bed so if you are planning on having more than 2 or 3 people staying overnight, it could be a problem.  However, Mel and her cousin, Shuwen, who stayed for the first night, had a solution for that: they pulled two chairs over to the small couch and slept with their head and torsos on the couch and their legs on the chairs.  No complaints of backache for them but then again, they aren’t tall so that probably helped.

My favourite piece of furnishing is the circular cabinet that holds the electric kettle, coffee cups, TWG tea bags, instant coffee sticks, sugar and creamer, and a mini bar in the cabinet below the glass shelves.

There is a tiny balcony, unlike the one at Festive Hotel where you could place a coffee table and chair, but the tiny balcony is good enough for hubby to take a smoke break so no complaint 🙂

The bathroom is nicer than the one at Festive Hotel, with a round shower stall with the wall covered in blue mosaics.  It has an overhead rain shower which is really nice but you have to be careful how you turn the tap on or you could get drenched if you only wanted to wash your legs.  The right side of the bathroom was the toilet with its mosaic wall of flower motifs.

That evening of our check-in, we had dinner with my mother-in-law and sis-in-law, son and daughter, son’s girlfriend, and two nieces at Hard Rock Café that evening.  The food was alright but rather expensive.

Some of us stayed in the room after dinner to watch the BPL match between Manchester United and Everton where Man U won 2-1.  Arsenal lost to Chelsea 2-0, leaving niece Shuwen feeling sad.

Mel, my other niece Joleen, and their friend who visited us later went to the Universal Studio Halloween night while hubby showed MIL and SIL around the resort.  We stayed for 2 nights and visited the SEA Aquarium on the second day.  Photos of the SEA Aquarium will follow soon.

There is something for everyone at the Resorts World Sentosa so make sure you visit it when you’re in Singapore 😉  And if you’re local, don’t be put-off by the casino there because the place is not just about gambling, it’s also about food, fun and adventure.
